Cyon stands up and stretches, getting ready to enter the private section of the web site. He bends down and picks up the table he is sitting at and walks to the door he needs to get through. He smashes the table against the door as hard as he can. The table splinters, but the door cracks and is jarred open.
The door flies open with a resounding crash, the lock shattered and the area behind it accessable. Cyon enters the private section, trying to close the door, but with the lock shattered, it no longer latches. Shrugging, Cyon turns and continues down the hallway in front of him. As he walks, he makes note of all camera that are in the area. As was shown the last time, there are four monitored cameras. (NE/NW corner, one in each entrance) Cyon walks down the hall and turns into a door which seems to slowly fade in. In the room one wall is completely covered with equipment and displays. Four are showing the output from the camera's in the club, while the others are just flickering. Cyon goes to the equipment and records a 4 minute strip of output from all the monitors. He then takes the data and attempts to create a loop in each that doesn't have a noticable jump when the cycle repeats. After what seems an eternity the cycle has been constructed; it loops beautifully, seeming barely to be fake at all, even to someone looking. Unfortunately, as it is put into play (successfully), the screech of IC is heard, the door behind you being blown off it's hinges by a floating martini glass. Cyon unloads the deception program from memory, his figure coming into full sight as he does this. He then loads armor, a full suit of body armor appearing on him. Cyon steps back into a defensive stance and awaits the attack. With an ill-timed lunge the IC launches itself, rapidly spinning rim sprouting blades of razor-sharp glass that tear through Cyon's icon, leaving a mess of grey static in the abdominal area. (L Damage; Icon only. Hardware/Meat Body perfect) Cyon recoils from the attack, pausing for a moment. He then grabs a monitor from behind him and heaves it at the spinning IC. It seems that there's a reason monitors aren't regularly served with a martini, as the entire glass explodes, showering the room with liquid. |

Cyon leans back against the equipment behind him for a moment, grimacing at the mess that has been made. He then walks slowely from the room, making a call to Veronica and Maynard at the same time.

Cyon turns once he is back in the hallway and enters another door. This room has 4 large displays, each containing a scene from the club. He watches as the fight continues, and calls Veronica, and then Maynard.

The following becomes clear.
1) Jig Yellum's e-mail address has been registered for two years. 2) Jig Yellum isn't an actual person; in fact, there isn't even a badly done fake ID - they just don'e exist. |

O.E. Parker and Willard [edit] [delete] Cyon |

Cyon enters the Matrix and goes to the web site of O.E. Parker and Willard.
The host of O.E. Parker & Willard is set up as a giant castle, with towers in various locations about the world. Every continent is covered completely in flags, the poles jutting from the ground at regular intervals. Cyon looks around to locate the tower or flags indicating the location that he and his friends were involved in. The Seattle tower is an oddly shapen stone monolith from a distance, but, as approached, the focus slowly sharpens until it assumes the form of the building seen in person. Evidently they paid a lot for the sculpting on this system. Cyon analyzes the system and then looks more closely at the building. As the grid map of the analysis filters over the display, several towers flash bright red - Seattle, Dresdin and Rome. The others appear to be varying shades of orange. Cyon moves closer to the building in Seattle, the one where so much had just happened to possibly change his life dramatically. He looks at the entrance to the building, then moves around it to see if there are any back doors or any other forms of entrance, such as vents or windows that could be used. The exterier of the building is without manner of entrance, as it is still only a replication. However, once the back of the building is reached, a tunnel, or tube, of some form is connecting the building to a server seen through a strange haze. Large amounts of traffic is passing through this connection, but it is unreachable through the haze. Cyon returns to the entrance, but hesitates a moment before entering. He looks up at the looming shape of the building, wondering what he will find inside, and if it is worth risking his life for a little adventure. Shrugging his shoulders, he decides that life would be little without some excitement and steps boldly inside. The interior seems strangely surreal, the product of trying to recreate a real landscape precisely. It looks identical to the real lobby, but...not. The icon of a customer service bot waits by the elevator. There appears to be a guestbook of some sort, set up to forward messages to the intended recipient. Also present is an elevator, marked, "Restricted - Employees Only." Cyon reviews the guestbook first, to see if it lists any information about the employees or anything else of interest. There is contact information for 5 members of the Seattle office and one member at each other office; all seem to be customer service or sales persons. Cyon walks forward to the customer service bot to see what it may do. It seems that, with masking programs running, the less-than-human bot doesn't even realize Cyon exists. Cyon leaves the host and unloads cloak. Then he returns to the host and goes directly to the bot. A sudden tickle indicates the Bot scanning Cyon's icon, momentarily speaking, "Welcome to O.E. Parker & Willard, English Version." A menu pops up infront of the bot. 1) Customer Service - Automated Service 2) Customer Service - Live Assistance 3) Catalogue of Services 4) Employment Opportunities 5) Legal Services Cyon peruses the Legal Services menu, wondering what they might offer, or if it was just a listing of agreements for their protection. It appears to be just mountains of disclaimers, though there's also contact information for a law firm. Cyon searches the disclaimers for any hints as to what the real estate may be hiding, but expects to find nothing. After this, he reviews the information about the law firm, wondering if it is the law firm the company uses, or a reference for customers. Nothing is found in the disclaimers, and the law firm has no infomration other than contact. It seems to be the law firm the company uses with the information mainly as a reference to be used for questions. Cyon next looks over the employment opportunities to see if either he might fit one of the positions; or Maynard or Veronica. It may be useful for getting inside the place if there was a reason to. Employment seems to consist of generic, entry level positions....oddly, these fall under every imaginable field, with the exception of biological sciences. Cyon continues on to the catalog of services, wondering what they might be with such a wide range of positions. The company performs services in varying fields. Construction, Demolition and conventional Real-Estate. Cyon leaves the site of O.E. Parker and does a generic search in the matrix for any building constructed, demolished, or being sold by O.E. Parker. It seems they primarily buy/sell real-estate in Europe; their interests in the UCAS appear to be demolition. |

Cyon feels there is little more to gain from the bot and loads his cloaking program again. He enters the building again and goes to the bot.
Once again, it fails completely to notice you. Cyon goes to the elevator and sees if he can open it. No; it appears to be quite securely locked. Cyon looks around to determine how employees gain access to the elevator. He waits a while to see if anyone comes in or out. He kicks the bot while waiting. As it's not lunch time and not the beginning or end of the day, it's hard to tell. It'd seem they just unlock the door, but no one is doing so presently. As nobody seems to be opening the elevator by conventional means, Cyon feels that he must rectify the situation. He places large barrels of TNT around the elevator door as well as the bot. He nods to himself a few times as he is doing this, and then leaves after giving a slightly cynical, but mostly maniacal, grin. A trigger device materializing in his hands once he is outside the building, he turns and watches as he presses the little red button. A tremendous boom rocks the imaginary landscape, though Cyon can hear his deck chirp as it tries to compute the graphic it just employed. With a rush the entire explosion blares past as lost frames catch up. The entire building has fallen...save for the elevator, and the bot, which are standing calmly. Cyon removes his cloak program and then returns to the destroyed building. With a look of innocence, he asks the bot, "I guess there was a little accident?" The bot blinks, then a sudden tickle indicates the Bot scanning Cyon's icon, momentarily speaking, "Welcome to O.E. Parker & Willard, English Version. A menu pops up infront of the bot. 1) Customer Service - Automated Service 2) Customer Service - Live Assistance 3) Catalogue of Services 4) Employment Opportunities 5) Legal Services Cyon sighs and loas the cloak program again. He then paces through the wreckage of the building, until he somehow locates a laser cutter that is fully intact. He withdraws it from under the debri and returns to the elevator. He sets it up and begins to cut a circular hole through the elevator. It seems that the careful approach works better, as very, very slowly Cyon cuts away at the door, much to the chagrin of an employee logging out for lunch who seems to bump into Cyon....but is mysteriously averted, unable to even notice the masked icon. Cyon continues to cut away at the door until ultimately one door is dislodged, landing with a gargantuan *thud*. |

Cyon advances through the hole that he created and looks around once he enters the restricted site.
The elevator appears to be almost a one way mirror. Upon entering, a landscape unfolds....flags upon green fields. Cyon waits a moment, surveying the field. After he does this, he walks forward to one of the flags. As he comes closer, the flag gets larger until it becomes a layout of the building with all areas marked by what is necissary to have access. Unfortunately for Cyon, the field seems to soften as he walks, stretching impossibly away from him as he walks, the flag always barely out of focus. Cyon turns from the flag he was walking towards and walks towards another. This flag hovers over a stone castle. Each stone on the front of the castle has a diagram of a floor etched into it. The door of the castle has the security required to enter each area of the building burned into it. The system seems glad enough to oblige this time, as Cyon strolls toward the castle with surprising ease. Cyon unloads Browse and loads Read/Write in its place. He then saves all the information about the building he has found. As Cyon begins to suck up the information, the building remains steadfast. Despite this, two, large rocks fly off it's face, hurtling toward him at an alarming rate as they morph into a more and more humanoid form. Cyon dives into the moat that is around the castle. Swimming under water for a time, he finds a passage into the castle dungeon itself and surfaces there. The form pursues Cyon, but, oddly, seems to float. Cyon. in the brief respite, unloads read/write and loads analyze. He then analyzes the form following him, or floating him, as the case may be. The IC appears to be just one block of code, split graphically. It's sufficiently sophistocated that to Analyze it is challenging, but a best guess would be that it's a mid-range Black. Cyon dives back under the water and returns to the front of the castle after navigating the moat. He unloads analyze and loads read/write, then checks to see how much time he might have left before the IC tracks him. The IC can still be heard breaking things from within, as it tears it's way down to the dungeons. Cyon dives back under the water and returns to the front of the castle after navigating the moat. He unloads analyze and loads read/write, then checks to see how much time he might have left before the IC tracks him. The IC can still be heard breaking things from within, as it tears it's way down to the dungeons. Cyon begins to retreive the information again, but is prepared for the IC to find him. The building is unfortunately still holding fast, and two more chunks of rock are looking to spring lose. The previous golem shoots through the side of the castle, plopping into the moat again. Cyon quickly stops his attempt to gain the information and gracefully logs out of the host, or as gracefully as he can in the panic that has begun to sweep through him. The logout is successful, but leaves Cyon with a splitting headache, as the IC clings to his fading icon. |

Cyon logs onto the Matrix and does a search for D.F.Wittaker. He attempts to locate any personal information that may give indications of his attitude, thoughts, and biases that may be used to force him to comply.
The man, D.F.Wittaker, appears to have come up through the ranks the hard way, as he came out of an average technical school into an entry level position at D&K Plastics 15 years ago. He may be married, it's hard to tell. Seems to work long hours, despite his management standing. He was listed among those promoted just six months ago, his name on a list for a congratulatory dinner. Cyon searches again for information on the dinner. The dinner was held at an expensive resturant, the entirety of whichwas rented for the occasion. Unfortunately there is little else that can be determined; if anything else was posted in the public domain, it's long since been taken down. Cyon searches for information on anything that he has regularly delivered to him at work. It seems he orders dinner every evening, always noodles, either Chinese or Italian. Cyon attempts to determine if the deliveries are brought all the way to him, or if the building has internal people deliver it. He also attempts to determine if the people who deliver it are constant, or if an unknown person deliver it without question,. Impossible to tell, from what's available. Cyon searches for a picture of the man. The latest picture is that of his graduation from business school, which shows a rather embonpoint young man, white, with blonde hair. The corporate node is set up in an odd fashion. Despite being of a high quality, the sculpting is that of a child's jungle gym, a plastic world stretching as far as the eye and mind can see. Cyon look around for generic corporate information. |

According to their public policy and catalogue, they sell playground equipment, polymer furniture, fencing and are available for private contract on anything anything synthetic, but it must be worth over 100,000¥.
A menu system is absent, for the most part. Rudimentary signs point the viewer to different sections of the website, but it isn't concise. (Naturally the address and working hours are easily accessable. They're open from 6:30 AM until 7:30 PM.) Cyon tries to locate the address and if customers are welcome there. The address is found easily, but it seems that you need an appointment to warrant entry to corporate headquarters; at least, to get above the lobby. On the first floor are sales representitives that can be spoken with. Cyon calls Veronica with the address and the information he has found so far. At the same time he tries to determine where deliveries are brought. It seems that anyone coming in is directed to see someone in the lobby, it isn't stated precisely on the site what happens. Cyon attempts to determine what position D.F.Wittaker might have within the company. While indications suggest he's relatively high up, it's impossible to tell. He isn't among the very top levels of the staff, nor is he handling public relations or in any position with publicly posted information. Cyon looks around for an entrance to the private site of the corporation. The public site appears to end with a 'No Tresspassers beyond this point' sign, which, oddly, one feels strangely compelled to obey. It seems to only be in the Green-6 range; a piece of cake. Cyon, with no furthur ado, walks to the private site and jumps over the sign. While a faint, artificial pang of guilt is felt, the sign is cleared, Cyon landing among shredded tires on the playground floor. |

Cyon loads his standard programs for infiltrating a private net, then searches for the security policies.
The building appears to operate under four levels of security. The lobby is free for all to access. While the elevators themselves are under guard, floors 1-20 are free of actual security. Between floor 21 and 40 are patrols of guards, who are directed to escort anyone they meet to the offices. 41+ appears to be devoid of security, save for the guards in the elevators. Cyon searches for a floorplan and tries to determine what roof access exists, and what additional methods there are to traverse floors other than the elevators, such as maintenance access, ducts, wiring shutes, and stairs. There doesn't seem to be a floorplan, however a fire drill protocol states that there are two sets of central staircases. Cyon searches again for any basement access, and how utilities are delivered to each floor. The basement appears to be accessable via the elevators and stairwells. A central heating shaft runs through the building, which is either extremely hot or sealed off, based upon the time of the year. The other utilities are in a sub-shaft beside the main one, the latter too small to move through. The air conditioning uses vents as well, akin to the heating shaft. These would work, but they'll be very cold at this time of year - and vertical. Cyon tries to determine what ID people need to have free access to the elevators and floors. An employee notice indicates an example employee - it makes note of her garments, as well as a clip-on picture ID worn on the left breast. Cyon attempts to gain more information on the picture ID either in this employee pictures, or from production specs which were used in the creation of IDs. A sheet of laminated paper with the employee's picture, ID number and a laser-scannable barcode. Cyon further refines his search for how the barcode is proccessed and what information is needed within the system to validate an ID. It appears any surveillance camera validates the barcode ID, basing it upon both the employee themself, the numerical ID code and a time sheet of when they ought to be where. Cyon attempts to determine if the security guards validate an ID, or if they assume the cameras will locate any intruders. The security guards will only check to insure the picture matches the employee. Cyon attempts to determine the demographics of the employees, as well as if new employees automatically get an ID. It's impossible to tell - people that've just been hired never work in this building. Everyone there has been transfered, but aside from that there appears to be no pattern of any kind. Cyon attempts to determine how often people are transfered to the building. It appears to not be very frequent - the turnover rate is about one employee a year right now. He then attempts to locate all security subsystems to determine if he can disable the ID checking. He also determines if he is able to insert enough information to this system to create a new employee. A new employee can be created, but the actual security routines are on an isolated system. Cyon attempts to locate the system that he needs to access to control the security of the building. It appears there's a security console on every 5th floor - inside the security room. There's also one in the basement, again guarded. Cyon attempts to determine how often the guards for the security rooms are rotated. |

It'd seem that it's about every three hours.
Cyon tries to locate the security internal to the security room itself, and if it would be possible to infiltrate the basement security room without notice. Each security room displays feed from the cameras on it's 5 level responsibility area, as well as a display of feed from each of the two cameras in every other security room. Cyon searches on all employee information on He's currently employed as Assistant Treasurer, as has been his position since the promotion. Cyon attempts to locate his residence as well as any other useful information from his record. He also tries to determine if deliveries are brought by an internal employee or if they are delivered by who brings it. Three months prior to the promotion his immediate superior put in a request to terminate his contract; his residence is listed as an apartment in an area akin to Veronica's. Cyon attempts to determine access to the stairs from the main level as well as if they have any form of security. The stairs are generally locked unless the fire alarm goes off, in which case they open when the sprinklers go on, however, if the doors can be opened there's unguarded access on every floor. Cyon tries to locate the office of According to his fire drill plans, it's just down the hall - lovely for you, it's the same hall that he's warned, "DO NOT GO LEFT AND ACCESS ELEVATOR." Cyon tries to determine what security is still in place if there is a fire alarm. Everything automated. Security personell will evacuate, however if the alarm for an intruder goes off all employees are ordered to cease evacuation, and security returns to their posts. Cyon tries to locate the camera in the hallway that needs to be entered and if it covers the entire hallway all the time, or if it rotates. It seems that it's non rotating. Cyon tries to see what angle it covers, or if it is the entire hallway. He also tries to determine how a firealarm is set off, and if, when the security personell evacute, a camera can be destroyed with no repricusions. It seems to cover the entire hallway. Cameras can be destroyed without an alarm in such a case, if the temperature of the camera at the point that it loses contact is high enough to have been the cause of destruction. Cyon tries to determine if a fire could be lit in that specific location without being detected by the camera. Not by a person, but if a device could be placed there it'd likely go undetected - the resolution is bad, save when specifically focused. Cyon, while still in the matrix compiles all of the information and contacts Veronica with it. |

Additional Research [edit] [delete] Cyon |
|
|
Cyon determines what security measures are taken for people entering the building, as well as those entering the elevator or stairs.
Weapon checking appears to be limited to X-ray scanners at the stairs and inside the elevators; no MAD or chem sensors. Cyon tries to get a diagram of the floor plan to determine the sight of the employees in the room to the entrance to the stairs. It seems unlikely anyone looks at the stairs constantly, but the cameras are present. Cyon tries to determine is employee transfers are through the external system only, or if there is paperwork involved or the internal system. It appears there'd be paperwork involved; but an employee doesn't need to be transfered to have their ID validated. |
